Gift Giving During COVID-19

Are you struggling to stay connected in this lockdown? Charlotte Lloyd explains to us, one of the best ways to stay connected and show that you care!

We’re back here again. COVID-19 seems to be the gift that keeps on giving. As much as we try to show that we are over the countless restrictions and multiple lockdowns, I don’t think COVID seems to be catching on. Accross both waves of lockdowns in NSW, I have realised friends and family seem to be checking in more often. Now don’t get me wrong, I appreciate this just as much as I do out of lockdown, but with special dates and events continuing to get extended, everyones coping strategies slowly start to deplete. In a desperate state of ‘when will this end?’ maintaining a connection is possibly one of the hardest things to do during a pandemic. A simple text or phone call can go a long way but the long-lost art of sending gifts and letters has been reignited, and I am here for it.

The ability to show kindness and compassion to those surviving the pandemic I find incredibly important. The pandemic has seen a breakdown of friendships and relationships, but acknowledging those that surround you with a little something is one of the best surprises for anyone’s doorstep. Now, this doesn’t always have to mean you have to be a big spender. There is just as much opportunity to make something at a low cost as there is to buy something quite expensive. It is all up to you.

One of my favourite things about gift-giving beyond birthdays and holidays is the ability to find so many thoughtful, local and affordable brands that provide quality gift and gift boxes. Local businesses are continuing to suffer financially from being closed off to the public, so what better way to reach out to family and friends, than from those that are sitting right in your backyard…or close enough. Below I have made a list of some of my preferred local businesses and beyond that are great for sending support to those you love most!

Food, Drinks + Food Boxes:

Home + other bits:

Flowers:

Our lack of connection with one another this time around is understandable, and is a direct sign of the times. But, sometimes the smallest of things can bring us the most joy. So, whether you want your friends to indulge in some grazing goodness while in lockdown or maybe giving some of your family homes a revamp through decorative items, you are guaranteed to find some local businesses wanting to spread the love as well.
