Clara Stacey brings you the events to check out at Ourimbah’s inaugural Create2258 creativity festival.

You’ve made it. It’s coming to the end of semester one. Exams are fast approaching, and your study schedule is probably busy as ever! Well, it will be once you stop procrastinating.

Anyway, you’ve been working hard and you deserve a break. So what better way to de-stress than to get your creative juices flowing?

Happening all day on Wednesday, 4 June and Thursday, 5 June at the Ourimbah Campus, Create2258 is the must-see-and-do arts festival for all Central Coast students looking for that well-justified break from revision. And best of all, it’s totally free!

There’s countless things to do, but here are my top three picks for how to spend the fun-filled days.

1. DRUMBALA!

Lacking a steady rhythm lately? Look no further. Drumbala has you covered! Their workshop is bound to have you tapping along to addictive African beats. Djembe hand drums and percussion instruments provide a wonderful escape from the silence of the library. Who doesn’t want to hit something during exam-prep?

2. Scarecrow Making

Don’t be silly, Toto. Scarecrows don’t talk. But hay, they sure are fun to make. You’d be without a brain not to check this workshop out! (I should probably stop). But really, you should come along. It’ll be a bundle of fun, I promise. (I’m not even sorry for that).

3. Octopus’ Garden: Moss Ball Workshop

Come along down to the Quad and learn how to make your very own moss ball. Not only will this workshop be adorable, but awesome as well. Get back in touch with Mother Nature and bare your green thumb by making something beautiful! Gardening can do nothing but good for the soul.
