Are you ready to help “Raise Love”?

Ronald McDonald House Charities is going digital with its first Raise Love-a-thon. Leanne Elliott tells us how you can show your support.

Recently, for many of us, the world has changed dramatically. But, for seriously ill children and their families the stress of having to travel long distances to receive treatment is one thing that has not changed.

Due to the pandemic, this year Ronald McDonald House Charities‘ (RMHC) Raise the Love Ball is going digital, launching the “Raise Love-athon” which aims to raise $50,000, to provide funding for 370 nights at the Ronald McDonald House.

Operating in Northern NSW since 1991, Ronald McDonald House started with it’s first House in Newcastle, and has since opened more two more Houses in Tamworth and Forster.

The services and support RMH offers include a home away from home to help keep families together, learning services to ensure children staying at RMH can continue to receive their education, and a team of dedicated staff and volunteers to help and support RMH families during their stay.

“The world around us is changing, but childhood illness doesn’t halt and RMHC have families that still need our help” – Ross Binngham, RMHC, Northern NSW CEO

Despite having Ronald McDonald Houses in many different countries, it is a very community driven charity. It is entirely community owned and operated, and, relies on its many generous donors, sponsors, corporate partners and local communities to help raise the money needed to continue supporting the children and families who use the vital services RMH provides.

So, props to the local businesses who have already shown their support for the Raise Love-a-thon, including the Newcastle Knights, Hunter Signs, Strategic Group, Pettigrew Funerals and Enterprise Law.

Now I know that as students, many of us live on the breadline, but, why not sacrifice that coffee or snack, and give a little to this most worthy cause. Because, even a little donation can make a BIG difference for RMH children and families.
