An International Students Guide to UoN Services

Finding the best place to go for help at Uni can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you’re an international student. Leanne Elliott lists the best places where international students can go to get help on all things UoN.

Being a university student can be stressful, even more so when you are attending university in another country. Additional barriers such as language, acclimatising to a new culture and living away from home can add to the stress felt by international students.

However, there is a range of services available through the University of Newcastle which can assist international students with a wide range of issues, from navigating the area, language and learning and welfare matters.

If you are an international student and need help or advice with academic or personal matters here is a guide to available services at UoN.

UoN Global

UoN Global can assist you with a wide range of personal and academic matters. The office is located at Callaghan, Hunter Building and is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday-Friday.

Learning Development

The learning and development department offers a range of language and academic support through formal and informal services and programs including a range of online resources, workshops, e-consults and individual appointments.

Student Central

Student Central can assist you with a wide range of things including accessing welfare and support services, local advice and help and general information.

Student Services

Student Services offers academic, personal, IT, support and details about a variety of other available student support services.

Student Advisors

Contact a student advisor if you need assistance with things like your confirmation of enrolment, leave of absence or reducing your academic load.

Ask UoN

Ask UoN is a university search engine designed to answer any questions you may have about university.
