Career Connect
Career Connect is UON’s exciting new program, created to build your employability by linking you with learning opportunities and experiences. This program has been designed based on research and employer feedback, which means you can develop the transferable skills that employers are looking for. Whether you are looking to attend a workshop, volunteer on campus, or even want to become the executive of a club or society, this program has something for you. The Careers Service is here to support current and past students of UON in all of their career endeavours. Maybe you don’t know what you want to do after uni, or you don’t know how to reach your career goal. Employability Consultants can assist you with planning for your future based on your individual needs.
Are you ready to start applying for jobs? A stellar resume and cover letter is the first step in standing out to potential employers. The Careers Service has resume and cover letter builders and an instant Resume Reviewer tool for your pre-existing resume. Prefer to get assistance in person? Drop into their office and have a chat.
So, you applied for a job and have progressed to the next stage: the job interview. This can be a stressful experience for some people. Not only are you putting yourself out there, but it is your only chance to make a great first impression with a potential employer. Luckily, the Careers Service provides valuable online resources, interview preparation appointments (or drop-ins), and even a Mock Interview service to get you feeling confident for the real thing!
Many people have heard of LinkedIn without giving it a second thought. However, the social networking site is a great way to showcase your skills and talent while connecting you with potential employers and others in your field. The Careers Service offers a range of resources to navigate the platform and create a stand-out LinkedIn profile. If you want a bit of extra help, feel free to book a LinkedIn Profile Review with a Careers staff member to walk you through it.
Last but certainly not least, the Careers Service also provides support for UON graduates. Alumni can access all of the Careers Service resources, mentoring and CareerHub.

The Career support services host a range of expos, events and workshops to assist you in your career development.
